Vanilla Lactation Chai
In a spice grinder or mortar and pestle combine cardamom, ginger, black pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon. put a pot on the stove and put an amount of water in that is half the final volume of chai you want. so say you want 32 oz of chai, put in 16 oz of water. Put about 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds, 1/4 teaspoon chai spices and a fat 1/4 teaspoon of black tea granules (or 2 teabags) in the pot, slowly bring to a simmer, and let simmer for about 10 minutes (longer is fine too if you get stuck, say nursing a baby)- I cheat and let it go for about 30 min on low. Strain out the tea and spices. add about an equal amount of sweetened vanilla almond milk as tea. YUM-O you can also make this with chocolate almond milk, and its good hot or cold. This has almond milk and fennel which are good for supply, and fennel has the added benefit of helping calm stomachs, so this is especially good if your baby is prone to gas.
