Planning A Wedding in A Budget!
So the date is set, September 20, 2014! The budget is not a lot! So how do you plan your fairy tale wedding with out going thousands of dollars into debt? Well, I don’t have all the answers, but I can tell you how we have cut costs and done things to help save money! First, the venue we are planning to use is a friend’s back yard and we rented a tent in case of bad weather. We rented tables and chairs and this was the biggest expense for us so far, rounding in at about 500 dollars. Next we go to decorations: we went with something we could make ourselves with a little bit of help from Hobby Lobby, see pictures below. It cost about 3 dollars a table! A good friend made our invites and my maid of honor bought all the paper which was about 40 dollars. We did get Carrie (friend who made invites) a gift card for making the invites. Then for flowers we went with silk, which was way cheaper than fresh, and we made the arrangements. Altogether, we spent $150 for my bouquet and all of the flowers for Justin, 3 bridesmaids, 3 groomsmen, 2 dads, 4 grandpas, 2 moms and 2 grandmas. We grabbed flowers a little at a time whenever they were on sale and used the 40% off coupons from the paper when ever we could. The cake was ordered through Hy-Vee and we spent 75 bucks for both a two tier cake and a groom’s cake! Woot woot!! My mom had the table cloths for the tables. We are doing BBQ for dinner; we are buying everything from Sam’s Club. To feed about 60 people we have priced it out to be about $300. For the alcohol we are getting a keg and wine. The wine we got from Aldi, they have a great cheap wine called the Winking Owl! Its 3 dollars a bottle and $15 for a case, which is 6 bottles. The keg was $150. So we are gonna have an amazing wedding for under 2,000 dollars! We are expecting about 45 people, so it’s small, but it will be a blast!
If you’re planning a wedding on a budget there are great prices out there, you just have to look for them. Feel free to ask where we got some of our things, I will be more than happy to share!
Happy wedding planning!
